pretty difficult to find a Dew that tops the best from '72 (5/11 is just about the most perfect Dew ever performed), but i'm rather partial to the 5/23/69 altho it will probably be the Dark Star that wins you in the end

Larry thinks the Pow-Wow shows are too sloppy ;)

And as great as the Rotterdam Dew is, I think the Munich performance of Morning Dew (first ever pairing with Dark Star) is even better...

I think you are referring to the Strand Lyceum (5-23) show. Which was london. Or maybe Im just lost in a sea of dew.

I personally feel the Europe dews dont hold a candle to the fall dews. Totally different ball park IMO.

Just listened to the dew from 5-11 and downgraded it to a 4 of 5. To each his own i guess...

"I think you are referring to the Strand Lyceum (5-23) show."

Obviously I'm not referring to 5/23 because that was the second pairing of Morning Dew and Dark Star.

How can you trust Arb, only 4% of his listening is Grateful Dead? He is too busy taping bands in that little state with the big name.

I cringed when i saw this reference. Between this and the earlier suggestion that 2-26-77 is one of the all time greats, i figured i was going to take it on the chin today.

I am about to listen to that 1972-05-11. I dont recall it. My notes have it at 4 1/2 of 5. As much as i wanna take your word for it, i doubt it will top 1972-09-21, 1972-10-18, or 1972-12-31. 1972-12-31 is really "perfect" IMO.

Tho if you're really partial to having pigpen on the organ, i understand...

well, i'm definitely no 'expert' so your '72 selections just might be ones i would actually prefer over 5/11, and i would take the time to note down those dates you list for a future listen but i know with certainty, given that less than 4% of my music listening is GD (and that 4% by and large pre-70), i would never get 'round to actually listening, and if i did happen to, it would be so far in the future, i completely would have forgotten about our discussion here; however, best of luck in your endeavor
